Morryde SRE4000 vs CRE300 or...Pin Box???

Update:

I found a Lippert Rota-flex pin box on ebay for $350 shipped. It is similar to the Morryde in that it is a rubberized pin box designed to reduce chucking (not an air type pin box).

The Rota-flex does not have many reviews online and is far less popular than the Morryde, but for $350 it was a bargain.

I am going to try it as a staring point and then decide if I need to do further upgrades (SE 4000)

As far as increasing pin weight, I am not sure how I can really do that. I already have the "basement" fully loaded and not sure how much more weight I can put up front without moving all the stuff in the camper to the front which really doesn't make sense.

The SE4000 sounds pretty awesome from what I have read online. But may be a lot of money for installation since I am not planning to do it myself.

If you have the B&W Patriot on ISR rails you could just order a TrailerSaver TS3 and be done with it. Chucking and bouncing forces are generated by your trailer. Your B&W hitch transmits those forces directly to the frame of your truck and the seat of your pants. Trailer suspension and pin box mods help and many times bring the ride to acceptable levels but no guarantees.

The chucking and bouncing forces are timed so that when the pin is pushing down it is also pushing forward. The TS3 with their high hinge design also retracts while compressing dissipating both forces. The trailer is still bouncing and chucking, however, 90+ percent of that energy isn't reaching the frame of your truck. You will still feel it when the truck goes over a bump but not when the trailer rolls over the same bump. I had severe chucking issues and went with the hitch - gone.

The hitch is heavy and expensive but the economics make sense. You can sell your B&W, old suspension parts and pin boxes have virtually no value. You will pay nothing in labor which is vaporized money. You will own a very nice hitch which can be sold easily later on. Your smiles will make up for any other financial differences.

If you have a Companion, ignore this as the TS3 is not adaptable to a gooseneck ball.

MorRyde pin box ,and and an Andersen hitch would be even a better combo with his setup ,and weight.

I installed Lippert Equa-Flex equalizers 6 months after our small 9140 lb. fifth wheel was new in 2013. We never felt a difference. The MORryde CRE 3000 is in the same class so I personally would not bother with it. Last year we installed a MORryde pin box, and I would estimate that it reduced the chucking by 50% or more—not gone but a big improvement. Two weeks ago we had the MORryde SRE4000 installed. Wow, what a difference—we no longer feel the trailer back there (at least when it hits bumps/holes). However, we still feel the truck tires hit bumps and holes, and that alone is fairly rough. Now we want a tow vehicle with an air ride suspension.

The best bang for the buck is the pin box because you can purchase it on line for reasonable bucks and install it yourself if you are comfortable with heavy tools and a torque wrench. Be sure to torque the bolts in the pin box itself, not just the mounting bolts. Mine came below torque spec. Annual torquing should be done anyway. However, I recommend the SRE4000 first (don’t waste time and $ with the CRE3000) because the difference it made for us was so profound (and because it will be easier on your trailer in addition to less chucking. The cost will vary depending on tire clearance. The SRE4000 requires 4” of tire clearance because it allows more up and down axle movement. The installation adds 1” itself but double check with MORryde to be sure on clearance. So if riser tubes or a sub-frame need to be added, that raises the cost of the SRE4000.

Looks like OP is MIA. I asked him what hitch he was running, so far no response.

If it's a CURT they are WELL known for chucking because the heads pivot point is several inches below the kingpin connection point. The B&W's head pivot aligns with the kingpin so there is no fore and aft movement unlike the CURT.

X2....this was on our previous Komfort rear kitchen being towed with the previous truck a short box extended cab with SuperGlide hitch. The MorRyde rubber pin box was night and day better.

I do believe with chuckling the truck effects this also. We’ve had our Arctic Fox about 3 years so have towed it with both trucks (see sig below for the current truck) somhave towed it with both trucks. The Arctic Fox comes with a MorRyde rubber pin box. The change in trucks (B&W Companion hitch) is another very good change that I rarely feel any chucking. The longer wheel base proved to me that size matters.

Take a look at my signature for my suspension mods. I would go with Bilstein shocks first. With everything I did the Bills made the biggest improvement for bridge transitions.

Going from a fifth wheel with nearly the same weight with a standard pin ,and suspension , to one with the MorRyde pin box ,and suspension night ,and day difference in the ride.

IMO , not knowing costs, I would go MorRyde pin box to start, most likely will solve your issues without anything further.
