- 1jeepExplorer IILol...I would have to pass, I do take some turns.
My Michelin PR4's have held up very nicely, center is a harder compound, the stock bridgestones lasted about 4k miles. - joebedfordNomad IISome guys I know are selling their used track tires for street use - the center is still pristine. it's only the edges of the tread that're worn out!

my Kawi c14 eats through a set of Michelin PR4's in about 10k miles or for me just under one season of riding.
I get about 40 laps (80-ish miles depending on track) out of each rear tire on my R6 on race weekends...
I like life so I wont be treating the highway like a track, although some cars do! I do know a few guys that still do track days and yes you can eat a set in a day easily. - stro1965ExplorerI only have 2 tires on my bikes, so I won't take unnecessary chances that might cause a catastrophic failure in one or both at highway speeds. Here is a good article concerning motorcycle tires. At the end it talks about tire age.

I have a couple of bike's that don't get that many miles put on them. They are in a dry garage.
My question is how many years do you go before replacement?
How does the tread look? If the treads are good and the sidewalls aren't cracked, I wouldn't change them.
We change our rears about twice as often as the fronts.
My bad. I misread your later response. For some reason I thought you had dirt bikes and not street bikes.
I agree with everyone else who says to replace the tires. What could it hurt? - FireGuardExplorer II7 yrs for a street tire, change them. You have about 10 sq inches of rubber between you and a lot of pain, make it good rubber.
- linnemjExplorerIf it were me, I would go ahead and replace them. The cost of the two tires is probably less than your hospital emergency room co-pay!
- 1jeepExplorer IIPR4'....not those junk stock ones...I mean bridgestones. But most of my travel is highway, although my tires show no chicken strips as I do push it hard into the turns when I can.
- fj12ryderExplorer IIIYou get 10,000 miles out of a tire on a Concours? Man, I feel pretty good if I get that kind of mileage out of a rear tire on my VFR.
