Moving slide during travel to access fridge

Just ordered a 5th wheel with opposing slides. Fridge is not accessible with slides in. We can access bathroom & bedroom but not living room & kitchen area. We were told it was O.K. to move slide a few inches to access the fridge. Depending how we're parked either slide would allow access. We looked at several 5th wheels & this one best suited our needs & budget. Would prefer clear access to fridge but couldn't find a plan that worked.
We occasionally grab a drink or lunch while travelling. Is it O.K. to open slides a few inches to access the fridge?

As long as you are reasonably level, you could open the slide a bit. Just if you pull to the side of the road, and the passenger side is say 3" lower than the drivers side, I would not chance it, and have a slide out go off the track or something.

Personally, I would not buy a fifth wheel without access to the refrigerator. Your feedback to the dealer is going to get back to the factory, and they will say "I will not keep taking delivery of trailers I can not sell" and the factory will come out with a new design.

    Fred.

I agree with you. I didn't want to buy one without clear access to fridge. We looked at many 5th wheels at RV shows the last couple of years.. We couldn't find a 5th wheel with opposing slides that satisfied all our wants. This one is the most suitable to us. We don't access the fridge very often while travelling so didn't see it as a deal breaker. Time will tell.
  • Fred, floor plans were designed to be enjoyed in camp, not necessarily during the day drive to a destination.

Yes stopped. Usually at a rest stop or truck stop. I know to be careful not to step on floor because it's not supported properly unless fully extended.

  • Ditto. We also do it all the time with no issues. If we're at a rest stop we will put the slide back as soon as we have what we need.
