Moving slide during travel to access fridge

Whenever I go to a rest stop I put the slide all the way out and it has not been an issue. I do not block the other parking spot because I pull in tighter on the passenger side.

It is usually not hard to find a place to park that gives me room to put out the slide all the way so I dont have to worry about putting weight on it.

we have to stop for fuel often enough to not have to worry about making camp on the side of the road :)
on our current TV we carry a small ice chest right behind the center console for all those essentials - but one problem, liquid intake begets liquid output !

the one or two times we've stopped and used the rv we noticed that not having the slide all the way out ensures a leak if it's raining - the slides only seal if all in or all out --- good luck !

We do it all the time.

One thing that is a bad design on ours, the water pump switch is in the kitchen. We have access to the bathroom without opening the slide, but no water. I ended up installing a second water pump switch in the bathroom. That makes pulling over for a quick bathroom break much easier.

Well the 5er my DW fell in love with because of the Kitchen, the super slide covers the refer, I have ZERO issues running the slide out to access the refer. We are better off than most, we have a storage site at the end of a shed, four sites across the width of the shed equals extra wide sites, If I place it right I can open sides while in place.

Our dealer that sold us our present trailer told us not to extend the slide if the trailer wasn't level or rear stabilizers weren't down. It is a light weight trailer with 6" I-beams. The new trailer has 10" I-beams so it shouldn't be a problem to operate the slides if slightly off level. If we have to move the slide out a few inches to get to the fridge once a day while we're travelling, I think I can live with it to get the floorplan we like.

We've been doing it for almost 8 years without any problem. Doesn't even have to be that level.

We do it all the time also with no issues. I do not see why it would ever be an issue. Takes a couple of seconds, get what you want, close slide. Not really a problem.

We were concerned about not being able to access the fridge with the slide in before we signed to buy our rig. Once we realized that the kitchen slide doesn't go out any farther than the stairs, we realized that it really doesn't matter - if we're in the rig, the stairs are down and we can put out the kitchen slide.

Everyone has different criteria for buying what they buy! Some stop and eat in their rig while others may stop at a local establishment and eat there.

We stop and eat in our rig.....one thing we needed was access to the frig, what we didn't get was access to the bathroom from the living area, without extending the slide. However we have a TH with a rear door (in addition to the garage door) - so if necessary - we eat lunch --- walk outside, open the rear door and do our business!!!

So to each his own - we don't mind - stepping outside HOWEVER if it is raining, we will open the slide about 6 - 8 inches and we can sneak thru to the bathroom!

It is not perfect BUT it works for us!

I agree! That was one of the criteria that we used when we were shopping for a 5vr. The DW saw a model that she really liked but when we realized that the fridge would be covered by the slide, it came off our "maybe buy" list.
