X2 on Shore Acres, it's only a few miles past Sunset Bay. If you want a different pace than an RV Park check our Bastendorf which is a County Park or Sunset Bay State Park. The later will be tough to get spot in the summer months on short notice.

They have a lightship (The Columbia) that you can tour - although I heard they had to move it to rebuild/restore the dock. I don't know if it's back yet, but it's pretty cool. Try to get up to Newport and see the aquarium there. The beaches there are nice as well, as are Lincoln City and Cannon Beach, but that's quite a bit north. If you do go up that far, check out Ecola State Park. Great views, some really clear examples of erosion and the power of weather, and it may look familiar if you watch movies.

If you can get to Tillamook, visit the Cheese Factory. There is a reason they have won awards. They also have cheeses there that you won't generally find in stores. They had a white cheddar garlic the last time I was there, and while it might sound a little odd, it was fantastic. It was great on burgers and the garlic was a really complimentary taste, not overwhelming.

If you're looking for a little excitement, try the one hour Oregon Dunes Sandrail Tour. SOOOO much fun. Read the reviews on TripAdvisor. Totally worth the $65 ticket price!

We stay north of Florence as we have family and friends in Florence and Bay Shore. There are a lot of places to visit from Florence north and I would find a closer campground, like South Beach or Beverly Beach near Newport for at least 4 days.

Here are a few things to do;

Things to do on the Coast(North of Winchester Bay);

All the state parks and picnic area/day use areas for beach combing

Winchester Bay for RV Park and County campgrounds, dunes

Florence for the jetties and the dunes, camping

Old Town Florence for Mo’s & BJ’s & shopping, camping

Sea Lion Caves for the view of Heceta Head Light and caves, day use

Cape Perpetua/Devils Churn

Yachats for shopping and views, beach combing, day use, kiting

Waldport for crabbing

Bay Shore for beach combing, kiting

Newport for the Aquarium, Old Town, shopping and the Brewery, kiting

Depot Bay for the Sea Hag

Lincoln City for the Factory Stores and Glass studios south side of town, blow your own glass float.

Otis for the Café, best breakfast on coast that is cooked by someone else

Tillimook for the Cheese factory and ice cream

He didn't say when he was going. Crab season doesn't really pick up until late summer early fall. Crabbing is pretty slow for the next few months.
