As others stated, you pushed your luck, possible damage to your 5er and possibly pushing safety issue with your family in the truck. Fortunate that you weren't running 10 to 15 mph faster. BUT, it appears you put some good tires back on....don't think I'd push them to 8 years though, no matter how good they look...I'd be thinking around 5 yrs. max to replace.
Fortunate that you had a lighter 5er at only 10,000#, probably helped in the long run
