My scaled weight

I'm not sure the math adds up correctly here. My FW dry weight is 8043 # pin of 1142 truck with full tank and wife 7800#. There is close to 300 # that is packed at the time of weigh in. Truck weight plus pin was 9220, FW was 7120 # ( truck was still hooked up,just off the scale) Gross for TV and FW was 16560 #. I was presently surprised at this , but much lower than anticipated.
My GVWR is 9000,Tow Rating is 9850, Payload is 2020 and GCVWR is 17000.

  • Weighing a fifth wheel at a CAT scale is easy. Even easier if you're a smart phone user and use the "Weigh My Truck" app. It saves you from the stretch to push the call button and the difficulty hearing over the intercom. I didn't get out of the driver's seat at all for a set of weighings last week.

How to weigh at a CAT scale

How to weigh on a single scale

If you weigh at a CAT scale, I have a calculator that makes it pretty easy to figure out weights:

  • While you did get some important wt numbers, Jim is correct to say you should get individual axle wts. If you know each axle wt, truck only, but loaded to go, and then add FW, reweigh each truck axle, you will know how much is added to each axle. It appears that your pin is about 1,420, most of that should be carried on the rear axle. You should not remove wt from the front axle, but likely just add a small amount. With the apparent pin wt, you should be well under your RAWR.

  • Well if you don't mind me making a suggestion. We have a recycling place in town and they weighed our truck for free. Then when I outfitted our 5th wheel for a trip and went to the closest truck stop that advertised "Cat Scales" and they weighed all the axles separate, then the total weight. All this was done for about $8.00. Of course I kept the receipt just in case. Now I have all my weights per axle, and it is easy to figure your pin weight from there.
  • Your most important weights are the truck axle weights ....especially rear axle weight as its carrying most if not all the load in the bed.
Your truck/plus pin weight has a 9220 gross weight = 220 lbs over GVWR which is no problem unless it exceeds your states registered weight.

Weigh the trucks front and rear axles separately. Then you will know if a axle/wheel/tire or spring packs are overloaded.
