Mystery water line

I recently picked up a 2004 Forest River Sierra Sport TH. While I was getting things ready for a first outing I connected water to the city water connection and turned it on, followed by a mad dash to the water valve to shut off the spray going on inside the trailer. I didn't notice in my pre-purchase inspection that a piece of water line was missing inside, near the water connection.

I can see I am missing some kind of coupler or fitting between the two upright pipes. If its a T fitting with another line, where would it be going? If It is a straight coupler, why would it be up there? Any ideas?

thanks,

-Jim

  • Thanks for the input. Votes for a water filter were dead right. The filter was hiding in boxes of stuff that came with the trailer. It looks like the mounting bracket came loose and the PO just disconnected it. I will have to reinforce the mounting location before I install the filter. In the mean time I have a coupler between the two pipes to keep the water on the inside.

    thanks again,

  • Not sure if this will help, but I have a 2012 Forest River XLR. The water inlets on the outside have a plastic knob to turn to fill fresh tank or use city water, same hose connection. You always need pressurized water to fill the fresh tank. Water line goes inside, where the water heater sits right by the outside wall. There is a connection behind it that goes to a tee fitting between the fresh tank and the 12 volt pump. There is also a 3 way fitting mounted on the pump with another line that goes back out to a fill connection for antifreeze fill.

    you got two choices
buy a filter and install it
    or
buy a nipple and connect the two lines together

    I suggest both!
One night my filter let go and blew water everywhere. I was glad I had a nipple I could connect the two ends with.
  • I would trace the blue line closet to the me and see where it goes then determine what went there. You might be able to find out from the person you purchased it from what was there. JMO

  • up that high i would say it is a washer connection. you need to trace them out and see origion. one is probably hot and one cold.
