We did the tent trailer route but had a 25 ft. travel trailer in between what we have now which is a 31 ft. fifth wheel. We still go to the RV shows. The monster 5ers are nice but I have zero desire to own one, might be towing intimidation or lack of enough truck. The fifth wheel is more comfortable than the trailer which was better than the pop up. It tows shorter than the 25 ft. trailer. I've never had a problem finding sites but I reserve in advance.
IMO if you have the energy at 62 to raise a 7 year old then dealing with a moderately sized fifth wheel will be a piece of cake. Good luck with your search.
