I had the RDS 40 gallon/toolbox gravity flow tank ( I like simple) installed in my 2013 F350 diesel right after I got the truck and it's terrific for ALL the reasons mentioned above. I now have about a 900 mile towing range which provides a lot of peace of mind. For shorter trips, I can just fuel up at my home station prior to the trip and then do the same after I get back. For longer trips, I just take a look at GasBuddy and plot out the best fuel stop(s). If there is cheap fuel at the 450 mile mark I'll grab some. Or wait till later if there's cheaper fuel further down the road. Or just do like as has been mentioned and fuel up after stopping for the night (or the second or third night). It's just really nice to have options.
I do notice that fuel flows very slowly from the aux tank to the OEM tank. I leave the manual valve closed while traveling and open it overnight when I stop. That way I avoid any computer glitches.
I only use it when towing so I don't haul any extra weight around when not towing.
I would also question why there is a perceived water problem when using these tanks but not with the OEM tank.
I believe that Camping World is selling the RDS tanks now. RDS markets many different sizes - not sure CW is carrying all of them. Northern Tool also caries them.
If you are going to use some kind of tonneau cover, suggest that you measure carefully. Mine is a little bit shorter then the top of the bed rails so I do have a few choices.
If I had it to do over again, I might get a larger tank (60 gallon) with a smaller tool box that fits the same footprint as the one I have, or maybe a fuel only tank that sits well under the bed rails so I could have more choices for tonneau covers.
