NEVER EVER put money down on anything till you inspect it. if they want to bring it closer to you ,thats great , but don,t commit to a price. and remember the golden rule, never ever beleave what a sales person tells you.
I disagree with your thoughts.
We did almost this scenario, except we went to the remote location to pickup and sign the final paper work and make final payment, ours was a used unit.
Worked the deal with local sales person, put a REFUNDABLE deposit to hold until the weekend so we could drive up. Only going off pictures.
Once we arrived we started the PDI, and found some additional issues, called the sales person and got an additional reduction in price.
We took a cashiers check for about $1,000 less than the agreed to price from pictures. We made up the difference with a personal check.
It should be much easier if the unit is new!
