Hi, we are wanting a toy hauler for our 4 wheelers. It is mostly two wheelers but about once a year we have 3 when my son goes. We currently have a old truck camper and a trailer that we haul 2 wheelers on. We do not have a generator at this time. Space on the trailer is limited. Dh wants to get a hauler big enough for 2 wheelers inside and put the 3rd in the back of truck. But, we are having a hard time finding one that fits our budget. I think we should get one that is smaller. Enough room for 1 wheeler and some extra room for coolers, generator etc. And put one wheeler in the back of the truck. The once a year when my son goes my husband and I can ride double and not worry about taking 3 wheelers with us. But, he is worried we will regret this and want more space. I also think it would be easier to get a smaller one parked while camping and while in storage. Anyone in a similar situation? Regretting getting a smaller one? Or any advise? Thanks!!

Go big or stay home... LOLMost RVers end up starting out small and then go through 3 to 4 progressively larger RVs until they finally find one that meets all of their needs. So your best bet is to go as big as you can afford even if it means going with an older well maintained unit. But don't go beyond what your truck can safely handle.All of the other stuff parking and storage will work out. My 38ft 5th wheel is just as easy to park as my 23ft TT used to be. You get used to the size.

Do you want a made-up bed? Many small TH's can haul 2 quads side by side depending on machine width, otherwise 2 in-tandem. Lots to look at, have fun shopping.

we went through the same decision treeour solution was to go big; but parking can be a challenge at some of the smaller parks; on the flip side we went out this last weekend with another couple and their kids (7 of us)had plenty of room for a long weekendonce our kid is out of the nest we'll be keeping the hdt and going back to a regular 5th wheel; will be doing this as we can get 2 quads or side x sides on the back of the hdt; going to a regular 5th instead of a toyhauler gets you a lot more people roomhappy shopping

I listened to the "get as big as you can" wisdom when we got our first TH a 39' fiver. Now have a 24' TT/TH. I would consider even smaller. We spend very little time in ours when camping. The only thing that is not as nice is sleeping on the Happijac when the two motorcycles are loaded. However we only do that on rare occasions on in route over nighters. Personally I think maybe one size bigger than what it takes to do the job (as long as the bathroom is big enough). With a TT you can put one motorcycle or ATV in the truck.If you don't go too large you are not stuck driving a heavy truck the rest of the time. Bonus!

Ours has 12 ft of "garage" (no wall) and I can fit 3 quads easily, 4 if I get creative.

Okay, I found a couple of pictures. My wife's 500 is in front of my 850. No other way they would ever fit. There are rails on the walls for the bunks, the couch folds up against one wall. If it were a bare, empty trailer, you "might" be able to squeeze them tight together and against the walls with nothing other than small OEM tires and wheels, but really don't think so.

If you have two full size atv's, say something like Polaris Sportsman, you will need to be able to load them up nose to tail. They will NOT fit side by side in the camper, regardless of what the salesman tries to convince you of. Can't find the pictures I had of mine loaded up, but a picture is worth a thousand words, and there was no doubt about how they had to be loaded. To get a trailer that will haul them that way, and a real bed up front, you will be looking at something 26' long or longer.

I don't think I said old truck, I said old truck camper. lol

Also, They are 4 wheelers.

We know about the weight and all that. We have had pop up, travel travel and now truck camper. We wouldn't get anything our truck couldn't handle.

I do have the must haves on my list. Toilet, shower, a/c, bed, not bunk or couch that makes into a bed. I'm not really concerned with having people with us. If we have the room for them great it not too bad. LOL

OK you said -(old truck) that will determine what your going to buy as far as a Toy hauler not unless you plan on buying a new truck too? What's the make and modal of you tow rig or AKA truck?
