Need help with satellite internet and Installation

Hughesnet is horribly expensive for what is basically dialup speeds. Why would you want to spend thousands for outdated equipment?

We had hughesnet for 3 years... moved every 6 months and learned to set it up by ourselves... DON'T DO IT.
Unless it is your only option for internet and you are not easily frustrated
and are better then most on the computer and familiar with pointing a dish MUCH more complicated than setting up a TV dish... DON'T DO IT.

I use Verizon wireless, I'm currently camping on Grandfather Mountain, NC and I have service. It's faster and cheaper than satellite and no setting up every time you move.

Hughes is one of the few choices in our area and it could quite possibly be the worst.

I would also compare both Verizon and AT&T services to meet your needs.

I purchased a King for DirecTV and simply use the box from the house when we go traveling.

Cricket unlimited plan. At&t towers and cheap. Hot spot a cheap unlocked Nexus or something and enjoy

We used Hughes Net with a 1 meter commercial antenna for about 5 years. Yes speeds could have been faster, but service and ability to lock on were good, at least initially. Once Hughes got their next generation system up (no mobile service) basic service deteriorated to horrible or worse. Not only that, based on my years of previous service I could tell when they were flat out lying to me, which they did with increasing frequency. We went to a Verizon hotspot and later to just a Verizon cell phone as a hotspot and have actually increased our speed and operability. In addition, our charges were vastly reduced.

Don't walk, RUN away from Hughes. Anyone want a 1 meter dish cheap?

If you are trying to get Wi-Fi the go to Verizon and get a hot spot , works great for internet, we use Direct for our TV, we use a portable automatic antenna and have had great success with it. In Main this last year reception was great and we are from Louisiana.
