Need to remove furnace.

My Suburban SF30 furnace is blowing cold air. While I found plenty of posts of what the problem, I need specific instructions on removing the furnace. I live full time in my 2007 Montana Mountaineer and the furnace worked fine last year and up to now. Also thinking about replacing old thermostat with newer model. Any help is appreciated and if there is a video somewhere I can't find it. :(

Thanks for the info. Took a bit to get it out but just a quick test revealed the module board was bad. Unfortunately only 1 place to get it. Anway once it was installed, seems to operate better than before. One more learning RV experience.

There isALWAYS more than one place to get it. There may only be one reasonable price, but there is always more than one source to buy it.

  • Ours had to be pulled out last summer while in Colorado. The Tech lady came to our site, pulled it out and took it back to her bench at dealer, and had to install a new board. We had to run home for a few days, and I missed her pulling it out but watched her put it in. The only problem she had was getting it to slide back in. Really a pretty easy task along as you make sure all is marked so wires are put back properly.
  • Most of the time when I repair a furnace, I never remove it from the wall compartment. To install the furnace, it takes two people, one inside to install it, and another on the outside to line up the exhaust and intake air vents.

I have installed a Suburban furnace in a apartment. It hangs from the ceiling, and slide right into place. It looked just like a Suburban RV furnace, except it ran on 120 volts, and the only reason I removed it was the heat exchanger was bad. (20+ years old)

    Good luck!

  • There should be 2 screws at the front that hold the furnace in place.Mark your wires that come from the thermostat etc, disconnect propane line, you will need a propane sealant on the threads on the new install. The inside furnace case will be held in place by 2 screws in the back corner, you could leave it in place or replace with the new furnace and case.I would upgrade to the SF35 Q ,should fit .Really a nice quiet unit ,i changed mine from a sf35 to a sf42q.
