Negotiating the price on a used 5th wheel

I've narrowed my search down to two different units. They are both at the same dealer so there is no difference there. The problem is one is right at the very outer edge of my budget, the other is comfortably inside it. I would prefer the one that costs more but really am uncomfortable because of the price. I've never been a really great negotiator and don't really know where to start when making an offer. I've researched the price online at nadaguides.com and he seems to be asking about average retail when I don't add in any extras or options. Any suggestions for a negotiating noob. I would like the more expensive model but... price always makes a difference
  • Too bad both units are at the same dealership. I good negotiating tool is being able to get up from the table and mention that you are now going across the street and look at other units. If he knows your budget and also knows about the two units, he can easily say, "well, since you can't afford the more expensive unit, let's look at the other unit". He wins.
  • I recommend Google the exact year and model and compare pricing you find and go from there. I believe dealers make very good margins on used units and there should be plenty of room to negotiate.
I've seen 2 year old units priced in dealer ads the are 20-30 percent off of msrp for the same model as if we're new. 20 to 30 percent off msrp is what one normally pays for a new unit.
