New 5er with painted front and rear cap

Looking for some information and suggestions on what to do with a brand new 5er that has painted front and back cap. Would you be proactive and get some wax on it right away? The sides won't take a beating from bugs as the front cap will. Any tips or tricks will be appreciated.

Not that important to wax it as it most likely has a base coat/clear coat paint job. Most of them don't fade. Mine was painted 3 years ago and still looks new with only occasional washings. Now the colored Gel coat caps..that's another story.

true, Clearcoats do not need wax.

Don't need it, but sure helps the bugs come off. I too use Insulator Wax. I goes on easy with a sponge, just don't let it dry too much before removal.

I honestly never heard of the Insulator Wax, but on line at Amazon the reviews are marvelous, anyone else ever hear of this product?

Don't limit yourself to Amazon reviews, Google it for more info.

  • I use Collinite Insulator wax on my painted front cap and when we got to the campground 300mi away the bugs just wiped off, I have used Maguires and Protectall but the Collinite is by far the best. I use Protectall on the rest of the coach though.
  • Just like your cars and trucks. Leave them alone for a couple of months to fully cure, the wash and quality wax will be your best friend. Get a good orbital buffer to make the job go faster.
