New 5th Wheel to live in for 9 months in IL

I been looking at travel trailer and 5th wheels to live in for 9 months while I go to school. So far only 5th wheels have what I been looking for, since the first travel trailer of choice was sold before I could put a hold payment on it. Anyway, I have narrowed the field down to 3-5th wheels. (I have a 2015 2500 Dodge Ram with the 6.7 Cummins engine to pull the trailer.) I will be going to school for Gunsmithing and will need room to put a gun safe in the trailer and wanted an outdoor kitchen. So any thought on these three trailers below? Any problems or issues with them?

The 3 trailers in order:
2015 Keystone Sprinter 324FWBHS
2015/6 Jayco Eagle 325BHQS hi
2015 Wildcat 312BHX

Also I am dealing with the Camping World in Chattooga TN: any issue with them?

    Newbie Bill,

Let's back up for a minute. First I just retired from the military and I am not an orginal student. Also they do make smaller gun safes. Which I own one that weighs much less. I have other job skills other than gun Smithing. There are many number of resins that I don't want to rent an apartment. Thanks anyway.

    Thanks for your input.

Well, we can only go with the info provided. Have fun, the world needs more and better gun smiths. And, I still wouldn't buy a new unit - you loose too much money. But if you do it, I'll appreciate it because I only buy used units on which someone else paid for the new smell.

And Dick, I have read the reviews of Camping World but did not find any about Chattanooga TN. I understand that it is a chain, but not every place in that chain is the same. So far my experience has not been the best with them. I was wondering if others were experiencing the same at that location.

    Thanks for your input.
  • Gun safes can be several thousand pounds - I don't think any of the fifth whlrs are designed for that type of concentrated weight. If you do it, I'd put it in the middle of the floor between the frame rails which isn't a very handy spot.....

Why buy a new fifth whlr unless you just have an awful lot of money burning a hole in your pocket - not something a student would normally do? You're going to loose 20% - 25% by driving it off of the lot. Then you're going to be a newbie gun smith which will take several years to build a reputation and following before it results in a good paycheck. If you have to sell the fifth whlr for some reason, you won't even break even on it for several years.

If you're going the trailer route to save money, it's not as cheap to live in one as you think. You'd probably be better off in a small apartment (with a floor that can support the gun safe weight).

And another thought, I might have been wrong on the weight - check the door size before getting too far ahead of yourself. You're not going to get much of a gun safe through a small trailer door. It will probably be small enough that two people can carry it out the door and into the back of truck.

Suggest you re-read some of the criticisms of Camping World services before you begin doing business with them.
