New 5th wheel

Picked it up Tuesday. 2013 Fox Mountain 235RL. No dealers near us so we drove 300 miles to Thunder RV in La Grande Or. Left Monday night after the wife got off work and stayed in Boardman, then drove the rest Tuesday morning. They installed a used Reese 30047 5th wheel hitch as we did our walk thru. Whole process was great. The folks at Thunder RV are great to work with. The whole deal was done over the phone and site unseen. Everything was as we hoped it would be. Took about 4hrs to do the whole deal. We then left for Clyde Holiday St park for a one night sleep over. Then left the next morning for home. Beautiful drive thru the Ochoco's. Temps were down to 24 deg that night and the Fox mountain lived up to it's 4 seasons name.
stayed nice and warm with an elec heater running. Our 12 Ram 2500 CTD is a perfect match for it. Towing was effortless. Several times I looked down and we were doing near 70 mph. No traffic out on the hwy and we tried to stay around 62-65, but the 5'er was so comfortable to tow at times it felt like there was nothing there. Never had that with our TT. Stopped at a scales on the way home. since we transferred most of our camping stuff to the 5'er the weights were close to normal.
Front 4850
Rear 4700
5'er 6500
Guessing the pin at 1800lbs
Total 5er 8300lbs.

  • Thunder rv was on our short list when we blught our Fox. But Apache camping center won out when they matched the price.
  • Enjoy and we look forward to running into you somewhere down the road.

  • Looks like a nice RV.

IT seems like a lot more people are buying new RV's this year than in the past.

Congratulations on the RV, and have fun camping!
