New Duramax owner hitch question

All of these "pivoting" pinboxes can be locked out so that they operate as a traditional fifth wheel pinbox. When you do that, it can be used with the B & W Companion, Andersen UH, Pull-Rite, or all other hitches I'm aware of. We have a Turning Point pinbox (same idea as Reese Revolution) and use it with a B & W Companion. Per an email from B & W, this is acceptable as long as we lock out the pivoting function. This pinbox came with our 5er, but we have no interest in using the pivoting function.

I do have the block out in the hitch, but since I have the puck system I believe it's okay to do that. I am curious though if anyone is running the B&W puck system in a 6'6" GMC/Chevy with a standard pin box? If I have the clearance, I may just bolt the Revolution pin box in the fixed position and tow conventional with the pivot point at the hitch instead of the trailer. I know i could do this myself and check clearances, but thought maybe someone is already towing this way and could save me the time of switching everything over.

Thanks for the clarification, kinda what I thought, but noticed your mention of voiding the Patriot warranty, which is a rail mount. :)

I did not ask about rail mounts, since this thread didn't talk about them. The gal at B&W did not mention them, either.

Yes Lyle, the single point attachments, while a great idea for those of you needing the ball for stock trailers, etc, are not designed for the Sidewinder/Revolution type. The puck system is much more secure, as is the rail system for the Patriot. Did B&W rep specifically say not to use the Revolution with the Patriot rail system, which is also very solid? There is no Patriot single point attachment AFAIK.

If the Revolution requires a block in the kingpin, then B&W won't warrant their hitch; at least last I knew. Might want to double-check with them on this for their newer hitches. Hard to beat a B&W hitch.

LATER: OK, so I just chatted with Evette at B&W, and asked about the Revolution. They DO void the Companion and Patriot warranty if a Revolution, or similar, pin box is used, but ONLY on the single point attachment hitches. There is NO problem when using the OEM puck mounts. I did not know that.

That is a nice looking rig! It is best to be level, if you have enough bed rail clearance (6 inches minimum). You may be able to raise the pin box one setting. IMO, you are close enough, and many are towing much more nose-high than that. Mine is about an inch nose-high and tows great.

I picked up a great deal on a B&W Companion puck system. I have everything hooked up and even with the arms on the lowest setting, the trailer isn’t exactly level. It’s a little high in the front and my truck is squatting a little. Is this acceptable, or do I need to make some adjustments?
PS so far I love the hitch. Looks very well built and easy to use..
