I felt like I got a better deal ordering because I could pit 5 dealers against each other for the exact same unit. Every option was the same. If it was a long distance "wholesaler", I made sure my comparison included delivery costs- basically, I was looking at the "out the door"/"final" price and comparing them.
2nd closest local guy one. He wasn't the cheapest, but I felt I'd be treated the best by him. Turns out he was a big fat zero when it came to service and warranty work. :( Wish I would have saved the grand and bought from a wholesaler.
In my opinion, the dealer has almost as much incentive to make an order work. They had zero effort invested in the "sale". I literally emailed each and followed it with a phone call. By the end of the week, I was ready to pick my seller.
