For 2017 the Ford F350 is a highly rated towing machine. Tons of torque, great towing capacity, modern electronics engine and trany, comfortable, great styling. Ford does a great job with engineering, customer support and etc. Since 2011 Ford has styed ahead of the pack. Earlier Fords did not.... Also everything is designed and built in-house which provide the ability to be nimble towards competition.
Do you work for Ford? I agree that the 2017 Super Duty is a nice truck but to say that Ford has stayed ahead of the pack since 2011 is subjective at best...... - justmeExplorerFor 2017 the Ford F350 is a highly rated towing machine. I see you have a hard time resisting draining the oil too! :B
It's so nice when you have easy access.
The Cummins oil filter is still much easier to change than dealing with a trashed CP4 or that pesky second water pump.....:B
Now that I've done it a few times it's not too bad. larry barnhart wrote:
maybe that is the reason I have changed the rear diff 9 times since 2005.

So the way is sounds I will see a big change in the trucks from my 05 F350.
Thanks for all the input!!

You can expect big changes.... I went from a 05 6.0PSD to a 6.7PSD and was amazed.
Also if going with the King of trucks the F450 King Ranch I would highly recommend going with the chrome package to get a chrome bumper over the painted bumpers.

LOL... But you can see the ground!
At 50 I love doing my own oil changes :B Can't say I would feel the same with cummins98V crazy oil change process on his cummins. I'd probably take it to the dealer for oil changes to were they will cross thread your drain plug. :S- joebedfordNomad II

Some of the manufacturers retroactively changed the weight ratings for their trucks. At the time, only Chev was spec'd to do the job.joebedford wrote:
Your GVWR is 16250 - pretty light for a 41' rig. That's about what my old 37' toy hauler weighed and it was fine with my 2004 CTD Ram. My current 5er is 19000 and it definitely wasn't OK with the 2004 Ram. In 2011 the Silverado 3500HD was the only one spec'd for that weight so I bought that, but I believe all the big 3 can handle 16250 now.
Buy a dually - you'll thank me.
The 2010 Ram 3500 Dually with a 4.10 was also Spec'ed to tow that weight. My HR had a. GVW of 16,950#, loaded to 16,050# - goducks10Explorer

I did mine up until about 2 years ago. By the time I buy 12 qts of Rotella and an OEM filter, then get out the 5 gal bucket and a piece of ply to protect my brand new driveway, then have to take the oil to be recycled and spend 2-3 washings to get the stink off my hands, I can pay about $35 more to have someone else do it. Priceless IMO.
And thats not even accounting for the times when it's raining or damp and 40* here in the PNW. Nothing worse than needing the oil changed in Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb here in Oregon.
Well maybe somewhere like North Dakota. ha
