New truck

How long is your garage exactly? Have you put a tape measure to it? I have the same issue. A Ford f350 crew cab with standard bed will fit into my garage with exactly 9" to spare....at least on paper. The Ram is about 1 1/2 inches longer and the Chevy is about 8" shorter than the Ford....at least on paper according to their web site specs.

I know one thing for certain. When I got to test drive, I'm taking the truck and salesman home with me and we are going to test park that truck in my garage before I sign any paperwork. Luckily I live 5 minutes from our local auto row so shouldn't be a problem doing that. I don't want any nasty surprises when I get the truck home.

Yes indeed. IF, our attached garage was long enough, the door opening ain't high enough for the Ram to fit through!

When they downsized cars, builders downsized garages as well.....:(

Ford still makes a 'Super-Cab.' The best I can tell, Ram and GM don't anymore. If you can't find one you can always order one.

The new GM's have a double cab which is the same as the former club/extended cab. Ford still shows a super cab configuration. As someone else pointed out, Dodge no longer offers anything like these.
I share your needs-a long bed with a little larger cab but I don't haul anyone in the back seat. Just need a place for a few items including a small cooler and the cat carrier. Others here have different needs and ideas.

It obviously depends on the length of your garage. I don't think Ram still makes a quad cab. I just went to the Ram website to build one and it only offered the crew or mega cab for a 2500 SLT. I bought a 2008 Ram 6.7 CTD QUAD CAB a few years ago because it was the biggest 2500 series that would fit in my garage with reasonable certainty. I thought a crew cab might, but it would have been real close.

Didn't save the site but I was fooling with the Chevy website only last night where you selected the model, engine, colour, options etc. & it showed them all & gave a MSRP for the area given.

To replace my 06 CC 2WD dually came in at MSRP $50,000, 4WD $53,000. I'll keep 'Bettsy' for a few more years. she has been good to us. Besides, I like the 06 interior better than the 14.

GM for 2015 still builds an equivalent of the extended cab, but it is now called Double Cab. It has 4 doors, but the same wheelbase and overall length as the pre-2015 EC. The crew cab is 10 inches longer than the EC or DC. I don't know about fuel tank size for the new 2015s, but on older GM trucks, the EC only has a 26 gal. tank while the CC is 36 or 39 gal. And if you want to install a larger aftermarket underbed tank, they are no longer offered for the ECs, just CCs. Since the crew cab just fits in my garage, decision was simple.

My crew cab with a standard bed fits nicely in the garage. I don't use a slider hitch and can nearly get to 90* on tight turns with out hitting the cab.

One other benefit of the standard bed is I can hitch the trailer with the tailgate down and not have it hit the FW. My buddy with the same truck with a long bed has to stop once the tailgate clears the pinbox and close the tailgate or he will hit it on the FW.

Keep in mind I'm referring to a standard bed not a short bed.

Ram does make a Quad Cab, Crew Cab, And Mega Cab. The Quad with a short bed is the shortest of the line. The Crew with a 8' box is the longest. The Mega with a short bed, ( the only way it comes ),is the same length as a Quad with a 8' box.
