Newbie needs some advice please!

Purchasing a new 2014 Raptor 27FS. This is our first TH (or camper in general) and we are very excited! There are some things that come with the sale that we are not sure on and would like some advice. We are getting the Equalizer (rated at 1200 lbs I think) 4 pt hitch/stabilizer which is the best they got.

1. Extended Warranties...is this a waste of money or do you recommend this? Not sure on cost here. There's is thru XtraRide which is endorsed by RVDA...no clue here

2. Paint and Fabric Protectant? Cost $1049

3. Slideout Room Cover? Small Room $675, Large Room $775

4. Barker Power Tongue Jack? $299 installed. We do want a powered tongue jack. Is this worth the money or is there a better brand?

  • 1. Extended Warranty - Worth it only if something fails. My opinion is to take the money and put it aside to pay for any future failure.
    2. Paint and Fabric - Sounds crazy pricey compared to wax and a couple of cans of Scotch-Guard.
    3. Slideout Covers - If you frequently camp with slides out near trees, yes. Almost useless in the desert other than to act as a sail...
    4. Power Tongue Jack - I like mine, just price shop them. Looks like they are getting $50-$75 for the install because they range in price from $213 to $270 depending on where you buy it. If you are not a handy person it's probably worth it to have it installed by them.
