Not sure why you are getting so hyped up on this. Forums are place to get all opinions, all of which I am listening to. As far as maintenance, which I do for all 5 of my families cars. I've done engine swaps, head work, electrical work and more. I have never done diff fluid changes on any of them. As a matter of fact, I don't know anyone personally who has. I will from now on do this service on my TV.
As far as big bucks on a TH. I am looking at uses ones in the 7K range. A good 1 ton or more truck, I am assuming will cost way more than that. I'm not planning to drive cross country as I have stated. My longest haul has been to the Desert and back, about 50-60 miles one way. I'm gathering data right now, that's all.
