On two occasions we used our current camper, took a week vacation and went TO the potential campers. With the intention of walking through the next trailer. We are in area of limited options and you ar in middle of trailer la la land. So, I would plan on weekend or short vacations and throw some trailer hunting hours in while relaxing. Our current fifth, we had walked through about 6 hrs away, came home sold camper and bought about 16 hrs away based on a 500 deposit. Loaded the family and supplies into the truck and picked it up in two days, camped all the way home for the rest of that week.
For what it's worth I could care less about warranty or dealer support but that's just me. Many people have lost weeks/months waiting for their dealer to fix 'something' and I have done that myself in the driveway. For the money we saved on the unit by shopping far away I consider it part of the deal. Honestly I wouldn't expect any service from local dealer if I didn't at least give them a chance.
