WOW!! Thank's guys! Thats a lot of good info. I appreciate it!
I spent some time readinf FAQs on here before posting my question and there is a lot of valuable info on here.
I should have clarified, I apologize. Yes the truck is a GMC Denali 2500 HD Diesel. It has a Z85 heavy duty towing package (????) so I assume its pretty much ready to go other than fitting the 5th wheel hitch and electrics to the bed??
To answer a couple of questions...
1, We went with the 5th wheel idea as I was lead to believe they tow alot easier/better than a bumper pull?? Plus they seemed to have more 'comforts' & room. My wife is more of favor of 'Glamping' than Camping I guess!! Hahaha.
2. The slider hitch - Most of the forums/info I read seemed to agree that this was the 'worry free' way to go when 5th wheeling with a short bed truck?? I'm open to suggestions though.
I like the idea of renting a Class C first!! It would be a shame to spend all that money on purchasing a 5th whell only to find out we don't enjoy the campground lifestyle. I don't think it will be an issue but we should do our research before jumping in, I agree.
I really do appreciate the help and advice guys. I've learned more here today than in 3 days of Google effort!!
