Well....I knew there would be lots of replies and the good people in this forum didn't disappoint. Lots of great opinions and as usual good advice.
My wife and I started Rv'ing three years ago and have not regretted it. We had the same questions and sometimes were as baffled as you from all the differing info. We researched two years.....and then got very serious for six months....so take your time
I'll stay out of the what kind of truck, what kind of rig and how long a rig...and etc. You'll figure this out is you look at enough rigs and discuss all the pros and cons. Would like to point out two of the smartest things we did.
1.) We both went to a three day RV lifestyle seminar. Four sessions a day for 90 minutes each. What an eye opener and learning experience. Learned how fridges, stoves, furnace's, water heaters work. Is this time period didn't become experts but learned how to trouble shoot problems in the rig and in the truck. It was also a lot of fun. You meet, socialize with newbies and experienced RV'ers and pick-up so much. If you could find something like the above in and around where you live.....go for it! You won't regret it.
2.) We both took one day driving lessons with a certified teacher. This was invaluable and got us off on the right foot to drive our 5'er.
Well....good luck. There is plenty of fun in the "buying" journey as well as the travelling journey....so embrace it and enjoy! We both hope you find it as fun as we have.

Thanks!! I wasn't aware such classes/seminars existed!! That will definitely be on the list of things to do!! I'm sure there are a lot of things neither my wife or I have considered when it comes to traveling!!
