Your propane tank may have some pressure in it, and may appear to be half full, but it doesn't have enough pressure in it. I had a similar problem with both my propane tanks on my Montana High Country, bought new last September. It wasn't until I took them to be refilled, even though I didn't think they needed filled, that everything started working right. I took the propane tank to be filled at a different dealership than were bought, and they purged the tank and then refilled it. Both worked fine and the flow was fine after that.
Edit:
Except then I had a slight gas smell for several months and could never figure it out. After about the 7th or 8th fillup for each tank, it quit smelling. Best I can figure, the connections had small imperfections in them that allowed some seepage. After connecting and disconnecting many, many time, it must have worn down and sealed correct. That's the only thing I can think of that would have caused the smell. Perhaps the slight leakage caused the tank to have less pressure as it leaded the pressure off? I don't know. All I know is, after they purged the tank, I had flames!
