I too have a noisy Reese 16K slider hitch. I can keep it quiet if I brake and Accelerate slowly. Jerky driving always produces loud clanking and banging noises. With the fiver disconnected, I can simulate the noise by simply grabbing the hitch and lift it up and down. It moves about 1/4" from the combined slop of the rollers on the slider bars and the pins in the rails. I've pretty much learned to live with it as I am not spending $1500-2000 for a new hitch. Other than the noise, I do like the simplicity and ease of use.
