Noisy Hitch

While towing my trailer particularly while turning and at low speeds it is very nice. I believe it is coming from the sway bar. Is this normal?
  • I had narrowed my WDH choice down to Reese Strait-Line w/Dual Cam or Equal-I-Zer. After reading about how noisy the Equal-I-Zer is, I went with the Reese.
  • With the Equal-i-zer hitch - when you hear it you know it's working.
  • If you have a friction style sway bar, they make lots of creaking noises when turning at low speeds through the campground.

Normal, but I thought something was wrong the first time it happened as well. Usually I unhook the friction sway while my wife checks us into the campground.

More likely the weight distribution hitch but the trailer's own suspension can be pretty noisy at times as well. Depending on just what is causing this noise it might be possible to lubricate the points of contact to reduce the noise, in other cases not much you can do but live with it.
  • Some hitches make noise some don't. It depends on the design.
  • That's very possible. What type hitch do you have? Some hitches (like Equalizer and a few others) require periodic lubrication.
