Who you trying to convince, it is a minor problem has nothing to do with the integrity of the hitch ,it has been well documented, and a easy fix. Granted some have it some don't, its a 1/16 play in the large pivot rod from front to back, a plastic shim makes it as quiet as a mouse. The jaws have no play in them, and there is no noise in that area, nor the slider.
To answer your question ,yes it was bashing, if you were the authority you claim to be on Reese hitches from your campground survey you would have known the problem ,and gave the correct fix, and answer. Have read a few problems with some bolt that wears out, or rubber bushings on the B&W, but I don't come on here ,and say they are sloppy, get a Reese. Don't know enough about B&W not the expert you are on Reese .Get the point.
