thanks for all the replies and opinions.
I believe my Maxxis to be as good (or better) than GY or M brand tires--but no matter what brand, a screw or nail or deep pothole or whatever WILL take out a tire. Quite frankly, even with GS or whatever services are out there, being stuck in a location off road with a potential double flat is not in my plans. As for planning to fail vs. succeed...I do put on my seat belt every time I get in to drive...I suppose that's considered planning to fail (or have an accident)??
