I have replaced 1 flat last year, bought 2 new for passenger side of fifth. This year 35 minutes after a rest stop and checking the tires I blew one on I39 SB, rear on drivers side. Didn't even feel a thing.Lady honked and pointed.
That tire came off as one solid tread wrapped around the hub and axle and took out the hydraulic brake hose right at the nipple. Changed tire out.
I limped 20 miles to a CG. Was able to order two new matching tires and get brake line replaced over 3 days.
I now have a mounted spare on steel rim and will get the extra tire mounted as well.
These are the only 2 flats I've had in 10 years. Both spares are now older tires so I will be cautious. All the tires on the 5th are new and 1 year old.
