NYS registration and inspection stickers.

I've been out of NY for five years, but the NY registration use to have instructions on attaching the small square sticker to the lower right hand corner of the license plate. I don't think it would be a big deal whether you were attach it to the lower left or right corner of the plate as I think any law enforcement officers would just be checking to make sure the trailer is registered. I always kept the rest of the registration with the tow vehicle's registration and insurance documents.

The little sticker goes on the lower right hand part of the license plate and I always have the shop staple the inspection sticker to the back side of the registration so that the LEO just has to flip it over to see it. I have been towing trailers in New York since the mid 70's and have never been given a straight answer as to whether it has to be fixed on the trailer itself. With the new computer records in Albany, the police can check to confirm if it is currently inspected. I have never been asked to present my registration or inspection yet.
