Odd refrigerator problem

Actually......

That sensor (thermistor) hanging down (not in clip on fin) would cause fridge to cool continuously...meaning it would not cycle on/off.

That thermistor is the temp sensor for the thermostat which controls the 'heat' source to cool fridge.

Freezer section gets cooled first and releases heat into coolant which then doesn't have much absorption capability for food section to release heat to.
After freezer section starts cooling down more heat absorption is available to absorb heat from food section.

This cooling process takes several hours.....

You finally waited long enough to see affects of cooling in food section.

That thermistor should be in clip with just the tip protruding out top of clip.
If Dometic Brand it goes on far right fin...mid position.
If you have 'no temp adjustments' on upper panel (Auto Temp Control) you can affect food section temp by 4*-6*F by moving it:
UP...cooler
DOWN...less cooler
(IF you have temp controls just leave it mid position)

If you have a Norcold Brand.....clip/thermistor goes on 10th fin from right mid position.


Here is a Dometic (no temp adjustments....slide clip Up/Down)

Not actually on "back side" of refrig. Open door. At the top of the refrig. section on the inside back wall are a set of cooling fins. The thermistor (wire with round tube head and a clip) should be attached to one of the fins on the right side(when looking in). Higher is colder.

Yep, clip it back on fin, IIRC, up for colder, down warmer, but not a huge difference either way.

Could someone explain this a little better, please. I'm not sure what you mean by a clip on the fin at the rear of the frig. How are you seeing the back of the frig. A photo would sure help. Thanks

I LIKE TO FREEZE A MILK JUG OF WATER AND PUT IT IN THE FRIDGE TO JUMP START THE COOL DOWN

We always allow 24 hrs. to cool the frig, ours usually cools faster and better on GAS.

it take at least 8hrs for a frig to cool down. just won,t happen in a couple hrs.

I honestly don't think the loose sensor is your problem. Give it a little more time. The freezer does get cold first but if the refrigerator still does not get cold, probably time for a new fridge. :(
