Completely agree however "personal responsibility" has been lost in this nation for some time now. A prime example of this is the current stories your hearing about towns banning snow sledding because of people suing cities claiming they didn't protect them. I can't blame the cities for enacting these bans because these frivolous lawsuits are bankrupting them. The problem is our courts and judges that are allowing these types of nonsense lawsuits to take place.

Like BB said, you can't fix stupid. It's not the design of the vehicle its the operator. Anyone can go out and buy one of these high performance SXS and go out and haul ass across the desert, with no training and no knowledge of how to operate it and where, then they get hurt and sue the manufacturer, the BLM, etc. what is needed is training. Just like the ATV issue from a few years ago

There seems to be a consistent theme that all ATV/UTV accidents are based on stupidity (you can't fix stupid yada yada yada). Well, I might agree that the lion share of accidents can be prevented, but evaluating and correcting flaws in design have their place as well. Many folks go out to have a great time and sometimes accidents do happen. I'm OK with a third party poking their nose in and chiming in on my family's safety. A little check and balance doesn't hurt.
  • No surprise- "they are going to protect us from ourselves."
What happened to self policing, taking responsibility, and consequences... the left has eradicated nearly every form of responsibility to the point that they now need to regulate almost everything.
    When will enough realize...

  • CSPC the people that would want your child raised in bubble wrap.
  • 4 point belts should be standard on a sport sxs. I think those are extremely low numbers for injuries and deaths considering their popularity. 42% no seatbelt and 42% unknown? Can't fix stupid? Why does an off road vehicle need paved road rollover tests?

I don't see a need for intervention at this time. Just like everything in life, research your purchase, add safety gear according to your intended use and slowly learn the limits of your machine.

VERY easy to go on you tube and see what people are doing in these things. NO amount of safety gear or design changes will fix stupid.

Personal responsibility is out the window, sad really.

  • The mfg.'s are all crying fowl and asking consumers to fight their battle for them instead of doing the responsible things in the first place. I don't like government intervention 99.9% of the time but at some point you have to expect it.
