Oldest Caravan manufacturer does their first 5ver

Roma Caravans started making towables in 1928 and the family company has been making them ever since.
Anyway they bit the bullet and have made their first 5th Wheeler. Looks like a small 25-26 ft model that can be easily towed by a " Ute" They showed this at a recent show In Queensland several days ago.

The interior of that 5er is like a breath of fresh air I wish the US Mfgs would get a whiff of. I hate camping in a cave. At least on mine I have lots of windows to offset the dreary colors.

Just summed up on appearance alone, US 5vers went down like a lead balloon. All of the Australian Manufacturers are trying to distance themselves from the US 5vers.
Woman who I met on the Summer Life stand at the Sydney Caravan Show, was getting frazzled by the inane questions, from Gentlemen of a certain age group. Stigma of the problems of the US fivers is fading, and the General Public at least know that are more stable than a Caravan to tow..
Regional shows bring out more 5ver manufacturers,

I'm a big fan of those interiors. So tired of the cheesy vinyl wrapped wood, saggy booth seat cushions and tacky bling.

It was very nice inside. Quality finishes , bright interior

  • At the show there were FOUR local manufacturers of 5th Wheelers, which is a pretty encouraging sign

Named the Nullarbor, the key feature of the 2.8 tonne (6,100lb)tare weight Roma fifth wheeler is that it has been designed from the outset to be hauled by the latest crop of locally available dual cab utes, like the Ford Ranger, Mazda BT-50, Holden Colorado and Isuzu D-Max.

All will accommodate the vehicle's 360kg pin weight and its estimated 3490kg ( 7,700lb)ATM.

It has also been designed to pivot on Hayman Reese's fifth-wheeler hitch, as all three caravan dealers in the Australian consortium are also approved Hayman Reese dealers and installers.

Good decision to build a unit to fit the utes in our market.
  • I like it. It's not dark and dreary like a lot of the units sold in the USA.
