Open Range 349RLS

I'm looking a buying a 2015 Open Range 349RLS.

Anyone have experience with this, or similar model?

Opinions on Open Range's in general?

Thanks!

We have a 2009 385 RLS and we use it a lot. 12 to 15 trips a year. We have had some age related issues like slide seals needing replaced but I had no problems doing those myself. There have been a few other minor issues but nothing too major. One thing about RV's if you use them a lot things will break. I mean you are taking a small house and bouncing it down the road several times a year. On the other hand I have seen just as many problems from not using them often enough. We just took our last trip this past weekend and it seems our converter is dying on us. Looks like a new one costs around $200 and I get to learn a little more about the electrical system! $200 may seem like a lot up front but break it down to 5 years use and it is less then one night of camping per year.

Before you go to the local RV Dealer, check out a new convertor on Amazon. I think you will find it much cheaper. I thought I had a circuit board go out of my water heater and local dealer wanted over $200. Got it from Amazon for $150 including over night shipping.
  • I am glad all others like they're Open Range's. I won't ever buy another. And cannot recommend them. I hope mine burns to the ground. I have it insured for full replacement value.

I have had several 5'rs. And this is by far, the absolute worse built Piece of cr*p ever. Maybe others are better. But I cannot wait to replace it with something of acceptable quality. The Open Range is very poor.

Had a similar girlfriend. Great to look at. But the maintenance and expense of up keep was way more than reasonable. And every day...a new unreasonable problem.

  • JEPalmer, we are in our 6th year with ours and would not be afraid to buy another one.
  • We have a 2014 TT, the LT274RLS. We've spent virtually every weekend in it all summer, both in our seasonal site as well as traveling. It has been a dream, with virtually no problems! We highly recommend OR!
  • We love our JT337RLS (TT, not a 5er). Only problem in almost 2 years use was a bad propane regulator which was replaced. We use it a lot too.
  • Love our 345RLS. Check out our owner forum at http://www.openrangeowners.com/ORforum/
  • YES! We just bought a smaller one (34 foot) 2010. It had only been used once for 2 weeks (older gentleman discovered he couldn't handle it -- it sat for 4 yrs). It was too good of a deal to pass up for the 2015. We've been in it for 1 1/2 weeks and we LOVE it! So far, it's done everything they say. This one doesn't have the Rvalue that the 2015 has. BUT, we're in central Oregon...and it was 27 this morning. It's WARM in here, with the space heater running. It's air tight. Hubby has been doing the man thing, with controls, etc.....looking at pipes, etc, and hasn't found ANYTHING wrong with it. As for the kitchen......a DREAM to work in. :) :) DO get one of the dining chairs with the step-stool alternative. I'm 5' 5" and I need it to get into the cupboards over the recliners. As for that sink in the bathroom.......well, I'm not fond of that. You have to use liquid soap....a soap dish won't fit around the basin. We're looking for a wire "hanger" to hang over the bowl for handsoap.

I don't think you'll go wrong with the rig. We've researched and the only Open Range problems we found were on the lower end trailers.

OH -- check the storage in the basement. We were surprised to find a "basement" in the "basement".....extra storage under the floor of the basement!
