In the Bighorn...is this something that is needed? Does anyone have it, and has it been beneficial?

If you plan on cold weather camping...Yes! It adds extra insulation in the slides and end caps and adds tank heaters on all tanks and heat tape to the interior incoming water lines.
Have used it and it works quite well, even in temps approaching zero...
