Well after a nice week in Old Orchard Beach Maine with the new trailer we have a small list of things that need to be fixed.. The microwave has a few buttons that don't work, the vent in the bathroom has a small leak when it rains and when I hooked up the hose to flush the black tank water sprayed all inside the front compartment. They are all simple fixes and will be done this week. But the biggest issue I'm having is actually getting the camper down my street and into my driveway. The day I brought the trailer home it was raining and the street I live on has very low hanging trees. Needless to say I ripped off the front roof vent getting it home! We were leaving in two days for vacation so I used a roll of waterproof duct tape for a temporary fix. Then I spent 6.5 hrs the next day clearing low hanging branches so we were able to leave for our trip without causing anymore damage. We live on a circle and I was only able to clear half the branches, the other half of the circle is even worse and that's the side I need to drive down to be able to back into the driveway. I called the town to complain and of course they tell me it's on "the list" but they probably wouldn't get to it until after the end of summer.:M For now the trailer is at my brothers a couple towns over. I'm so glad to see my tax dollars hard at work!! I'm probably just gonna hire a tree guy to do the trimming so I can get the trailer home sooner than later..Kevin Moderator edit to re-size picture to forum recommended limit of 640px maximum width.

I would not start cutting city trees!They can fine you and fine you for a lot of money.Be sure to check with your city hall about the cutting!Good Luck & Drive Safe...

I would be the pain in the butt with the city. Call your elected representative. Put pressure on them. If it is on the list, then they can adjust the list and move you to the top.

Wires have to be at least 14' off the ground so semis can go under them and I think trees have to be trimmed for the same. Very well could be wrong, but I'd look into that and use that as your point.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Kevin. I know how you feel. We too live in a cul-de-sac. We have two ways to get to it but one way has to many low hanging branches so we are limited to one access. We have an island in the center of the cul-de-sac and it has two trees on it. I have trimmed them myself on two occasions. Hope the city comes through for you. Good luck, John

I just wrote an email to the mayor last night. I will give it a couple days and if I don't hear back I will try calling his office and complaining.. Unfortunately I'm the only one in the neighborhood with an RV. My neighbors understand my situation but are not really affected by the low branches.
Now that i think of it I'm gonna give Waste Management a call that picks up our garbage in the neighborhood. All there trucks hit the branches too. Maybe I can get them to call and complain!

Not in residential areas. If federal or I think state money is used for roadways, then they need to be 14'. I looked this up a while back, and may not be remembering it exactly right, but close.

I would let the city know their failure to trim the trees has already damaged your trailer, and next time you will be sending them the bill to fix it, because they have now been informed, and it would be their negligence next time.

get a buddy with transport truck drive down the street rip them all down. Maybe then they will trim them. Has no one ever moved and had a moving company in works great

I complained to our town about the same exact thing. After being told I was also "on the list" a friend of mine said to tell the town the branches were low enough to hit the school bus on the way by. 48 hours later, no more branches!
