The problem is they use colored gel-coat. It's cheaper than paint and clear-coat. Some of the pricier brands paint & coat and they have little or no problems. The marine industry suffered from this same issue several years ago and wised up. The RV industry, which is mainly based up north, has for the most part not yet caught up because they don't suffer the same ultra "V" issues as Southern climates.
:h Have you actually ever priced Gel. The real problem is the process the supplier is using. They are not getting the mix correct or using bad product. Gel-coat is much more durable and stronger than paint.
