palamino columbus question?

While out a jayco dealer today we saw a columbus 5th wheel by palamino we realize that palamino is a forest river brand , but how is the overall quality of it and where in the forest river lineup does it fall.also is the overall quality and wormanship better or worse then other forest river brands. We saw a floorplan that we have not seen before.even though we have narrowed our choice down to jayco and open range. We also would like some thoughts on palamino, also these are 2015 new models .
  • I like the floor plans of some of the Columbus trailers better than any Pinnacle I've seen so far. And they offer more for less than the Jayco. Only issue I have is the Forrest River connection; we have a Salem fifth wheel toy hauler, and the cabinets are falling apart (litteraly rotting from the ground). I know the Salem is a baseline product, but Jayco uses the same cabinet build quality in their Starcraft line; looks like the Columbus cabinets surpass even Jayco's touted quality with dovetail v/s nails - they also feel more secure to me, as well.
  • We will never own anything but a Columbus we are full timers.
Had a couple small problems they fixed it ASAP. We have a 320rs love it but thinking about trading for Columbus 365
  • Thanks to those who responded I think we will keep it on the short list.
  • Ours has been good so far.

Seems like the larger floor plans, 385BH model, have more than their share of issues.
  • I have a Columbus 320RS. We've had it for over 2 years as it is an early production. After a few initial bugs were worked out, we love it. It is Palomino's high line. It has numerous standard features that we really like. 100" wide; 6 sided welded frame (no wood trusses in the roof), microwave/convection oven AND a gas oven; HUGE shower (30"x 60"); LED lighting; great entertainment center; comfortable theater seating; lots of cabinet space; etc. It tows great with the Equa Flex suspension and Roto Flex hitch pin.
We looked at some Jayco fivers, but the Columbus offered more bang for the buck, and our Jayco dealer is terrible.
It's a beautiful rig and we really enjoy it.
  • I have a Columbus and love it. I think the quality is over many others.
