Parts price differences

Beware of who you order what from.

After much research I got my order for trailer parts together.

Checked the OEM supplier. Checked an online supplier. Checked a walk in/online supplier. All parts were same original manufacturer.

The original manufacturer total was $2060, delivered.
The online store was $1960, delivered
The street/online supplier was $1260, at the store. Total weight is over 100# & the store is less than an hour from where I will be when I need the parts so guess who I ordered from.

$800 difference!!! Wow!!

By the name you would never guess. Stumbled over them looking for marine stuff.

Called Eastern Marine in Newark, DE. Being DE there is no sales tax either.

    Have fun.

A very good point. Boat trailers use many of the same components as RVs. For some reason, dealers tend to specialize in one or the other.
  • Been there for pick up also... I like browsing their site.... A few years back I purchased 2 complete sets of backing plate assemblies from them....Great people to deal with

Just got my invoice emailed to me. It got even better. Further 5% off for store pickup. You just know that money will be spent on a few necessities that I have done perfectly well without since 2007. A delayed Christmas is coming to me next wednesday.

So you never said what you bought. Must be nice if its a delayed Christmas gift. :B

Brake plates/shoes & a couple hubs with bearings mounted. Stuff for 8K# axels is not cheap at the best of times.

  • OEM direct will almost always be more than buying from retail outlets. If the OEM started undercutting their retail outlets, they wouldn't have retailers handling their products for long. Sometimes you get lucky with a stick and brick establishment in that they have had a product on the shelf for a long time and just want the space back. If they didn't have it in stock, didn't want to just be rid of it and had to order it in for you, the pricing might be wildly different. Congrats on finding a good deal.
  • That's what's so great about Internet........window shopping at your finger tips.

Anyone that doesn't do comparative shopping is asking to pay higher prices.
  • Even if there is no store in reasonable driving distance it pays to shop multiple on line sites for the best price. They can vary considerably.
And some charge shipping, some don't. Some charge tax, some don't.
