Portable or hardwire surge protector.

My statement was from experience. One that others may not have the privy to, to compare.

Huge power surge accident at a sporting event in CG in Gray Summit, MO

EVERYONE parked in that CG that 'had' a surge protector, from 500 dollar hard wired, to 100 dollar plug in etc. ALL were protected from damage. Those that had 'nothing' had serious damage to their RV's.

And before you ask, We all belonged to the same club so, yes, we all asked each other what we were using or not and who experienced damage. :W

Exact or not they all worked and protected the coaches. Just saying you don't 'need' to have a high priced protector to keep your coach from sustaining damage. And to tell a new comer to RV'ing that you do is IMHO JMHO misguiding. And we can agree to not agree.

First of all: I NEVER posted a picture of anything other than a LOCK BOX for a protector.

Posts are offered opinions of what they think about a product. It's not mis-advising. That would 'assume' that only one person is right and everyone else is wrong. :W

The OP's 'ask' for an 'opinion' on a product and forum members offer them. It's up to the OP to make their decision on opinions offered. AND that there are many options to choose from.

You can have the opinion that the cheap one is all a person needs, etc. but you cannot claim that it works exactly like a true multi-function surge protector. that is false

No budget here, I happily ordered the progressive industries surge protector for $239.99 after all i bought the trailer for thousands.;) thats why theres options and we all love optuins when we are about to purchase something.

did your $100 special have all of the functions of a true multi purpose SP? in addition to surges, monitored high/low voltage and shut off if indicated? have a timed delay for restart to protect AC compressor? monitored for open neutral etc.? if not you weren't fully protected. No I don't have/need a remote gauge, etc. either, but I do need/want the other protections.

All is good, i already ordered the progressive industries hardwire 30A. I dont really buy things because of price, i just want a true quality protection and products after reasearching i feel like the progressives industries is a one of thr better surge protector.

You most likley got tne LCHW model, that one doesnt come with EMS remote which has the by pass switch. You can order the EMS by pass switch for $24.99. The EMS HW30C and 50C models come wih the digital remote.

a piece of junk. you can't get a good one for under $240 or so.
