Power/Furnance failure

Spent the night in our new Jayco HT 5th wheel. During the night the furnace stopped working and all the lights in the rig are very dim. We have enough propane--the stove works. We have 50 amp service. Any ideas?
  • He's asking if your 120v outlets are working, not your air conditioner. "Do your AC outlets work?"

Why would the furnace not be working if we have propane?

In addition to what everyone else has mentioned, just want to point out that the furnace fan requires 12V DC to spin too. With dim lights and no furnace, it's fairly obvious your battery(s) is depleted. So, the battery is not being charged.

    Do your AC outlets work?

It's cold here so haven't used the AC. Yes, the battery was depleted because with the truck power, everything runs. I'm going to get the campground people to check the pedestal.

The furnace needs 12 volts to run, if your converter is not working you are draining your battery. Could also be a missing power leg on the 50 amp 240 volt service.

Would that be on the campground shore power end or in our rig?

Could be either, but most likely power pedestal.

  • Sounds like you have a 12 volt problem. Could be batteries, converter, bad connections, fuses or circuit breaker.
Need to find an electrical person with a meter and start checking.
