So, I'll assume for the sake of discussion that your hypothesis is valid. For a catastrophic scenario to occur, two (2) failures must occur within your 1-hour window.
(1.) The sensor on tire location X must lose communication with the TST monitor, followed by:
(2.) A catastrophic excursion of either tire pressure or temperature at tire location X within the 1-hour window before the loss of communication alarm occurs.
Is this scenario possible? Certainly. What are the odds of both failures (sensor failure followed by tire failure) occurring at the same tire location X within a 1-hour time window? Fairly insignificant, I daresay.
