Primetime 5th wheels big problems

So I bought a Primetime Crusader last year and before it was even a year old the rear axle came off while we were on a trip. The scary part was we had just come over a pass in Idaho (We live in Colorado). Anyway, that was on June 16th of this year. The trailer is still in Idaho and there are no repairs as of yet. The frame is bent and the bottom of the trailer is torn up.
Primetime blames Dexter axle and Dexter says they can't do anything until Lippert does something with the frame. So its four months and not trailer all our summer plans have been canceled and no one cares because we were not hurt when it happened.
The dealer, Primetime, Dexter, and Lippert have done nothing not to mention the lazy Bobby Combs repair shop it is at in Hayden ID. Anyone else have something like this happen?
I just want my money back. The insurance won't pay because it is a manufacturer defect. Attornies don't want to take the case because there isn't enough money in it for them. So I am stuck, any ideas?
  • Given the cost of repair to a bent MAIN FRAME of a FW, I don't see why the OP's insurance co. simply doesn't total it. Either that, or =they= need to go after LCI, Dexter, the dealer =and= Primetime. That's why we =have= insurance.

Personally, I'd be hammering on everyone, including my insurance agent, to get this handled. I'd also be writing up a detailed "incident report", with lots and lots of pics, and post it on the Net, with links to it, then spread it to every RV forum I could join, especially anything linked to Primetime...and name names!

  • Why did the axle come off? Was it faulty installation of the axle? Failure of the axle? Failure of the frame?
  • I sense ou have not hired a lawyer before, do so now.
Have him/her write up a letter of intent and send it to Lippert and the dealer.
It will cost you $500~$1K and will be money well spent.
  • You probably need to find a better attorney. A good one could get this settled for you, and have his payment in hand in no time.
I believe, like the above post, this is a Lippert problem.
    Good luck.
  • That is a Lippert problem. Primetime like most all other mfgs buy their frames from Lippert. Contact Lippert and ask them when they are, going to pay for the trailers replacement. Poor welds for sure.
