With an automatic switch over, it works great to keep one bottle closed. Until you run out of propane on a cold night. And have to get up and manually change it because your furnace is blowing cold air.
I'd much rather leave both open, and have it work as it is designed to. Once you have the trailer for a while, you can better judge usage. Until then (and after), check every couple days, or once per week.
