Propane!

We are out of propane and it’s supposed to get to the 30’s tonight. We are noobs and this will be our first propane fill. Our park fills during the week, so we will put our tanks out in the morning, but for tonight to cook and for heat, is there a problem with going to Valero and buying one of their smaller tanks and hooking that up? Is it ok to do that??

TIA!

If so why did you not refill when the first tank ran out??

Didn’t judge how much time i had correctly, i guess. As i said, first time. Just got the rig 4 months ago.
  • Some gas stations, Southern States farm store, Ace or other hardware. Ok
Getting a 20lb tank as a backup wouldn't be a bad idea anyway. And if you are full timing in CG's with electric provided, an oil filled space heater is great, if dry camping, consider a Buddy propane space heater.
  • So you have had an automatic regulator showing red for days if not weeks.
Best to check more frequently. Even daily as the temperature goes toward freezing and below.
There is no reason to run out of propane.

Otherwise the connections are the same and the fuel is the same. But even at 6pm I would look for a fill at a gas station etc. Or ask a local or in the office as they may know a place.

Not a problem. I carry 4 of them. Refill when I can, exchange when I can't.

    Beats freezing.

You can do that, but why not take out the 30# or 40# tanks that you have an go get them filled - assuming you have removable tanks. If you don't, then you probably don't have the right connection for one of the smaller tanks.

Well, right now it’s almost 6pm here so i think everywhere around here is closed. That’s a good thing to know about the connections, may not work anyway! Think ours are 30#, gas station ones are obviously smaller. We may just sleep in the den in front of the electric heater!
