After thinking about it, I'd get out and recheck the height before connecting irregardless of the measurement method used.
No I don't, I lower my Landing gear far enough to take most of the weight off the pin. As I pull forward the TV usually comes up about about 3/4" to 1".
Hooking up back up to 5er with V tailgate up and pin set to miss by about an inch.
